Once you have submitted your CV, you should call up the company within the next 2-3 days. Typically the standard reply from HR is either, they have not look at your CV or they will come back to you when you are shortlisted. Dont stop there. 1. Politely ask them that you want to be pro-active and would like to follow up on them again. When she or he will be shortlisting the CV and come back to you or does he prefer you to call them back. 2. Take the opportunity to express to them your keen interest and ask them to look at your CV. If possible ask for their email address directly so that you can sent to him or her. It will help to get your CV noticed compared to the rest of the CV in the pool. HR are usually nice people, talk to them nicely ...dont haunt them. Follow up again maybe after one week after the first call if they dont give you a timeline yet. By then, they will remember you already. This what my HR staff used to tell me when he gets such calls.
