Why company don't want to hire pregnant woman

Any idea why some employers refuse to hire pregnant women even though they're in the early stages of pregnancy?

During pregnancy, some will not be productive at work, need to take frequent medical leaves and annual leaves for check ups.

My opinion is because they don't want to pay 3 months or 2 months of maternity leave.
