How to let the employer know you left previous job due to sexual harrasment?

Is there anything else we can tell to avoid this topic or tell the blunt truth?

First of all, I’m really sorry for what you’ve experienced. Nobody should go through that and your feelings are valid. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer to your question. Whether you choose to avoid this topic or tell the truth, you have to make sure you’re comfortable with it. If you do choose to tell the employer the truth and they responded the way you mentioned, it’s a clear sign that it’s not an environment you would want to work in. You’re definitely not losing out. At the end of the day, you want to feel safe and comfortable wherever you’re working.

Hey, I felt bad for you especially when going through that kind of situation and others don't trust you made it even worse. I think you made a good choice of rejecting their job offer. In a long run, you would definitely have more issue with the hr rep like that who do not put themselves in candidates shoes before hurling out any shallow opinions they had. For me I would prefer transparency and let the new hiring manager know about it since that is the main reason you left that ex company, you wouldn't want to use another reason or cover it since others might "guess" the reason why you quit and alot humans are very imaginative. You can mention to new hiring manager that unprofessional-actions-to-female of your previous boss who made you decided to quit, and if they ask more you can just tell them in detail. If not you can actually ask whether can you skip the detail part and hope they understand your experience of that are not worth mentioned again as part of the performance/capabilities measurement or define your strength. I would imagine there will be 2 kinds of response. 1st is that they are understanding and let you keep it privately and only to ask maybe in near future; or if they react badly about it that might be the sign that is time for you to look for a better opportunity. Prepare yourself with a certain clarification about your performance record or testimonials to proof that it is not because other reason that led to this too. Hope it helps and wish you all the best in next interview.
