It doesn't sound like a good idea to tell. I don't know what you should do, but I can understand having a wife that is pregnant and a boss who hates it because they never had kids and think she should take care of everything, plus they go ballistic if you take time off which my boss at that time did. You could a) wait till after she gives birth if you have benefits like vacation and family leave, use them up if you want. Boss gets mad, but so what if you can change jobs at that time quickly. I understand how hard that is but I did try it like that, it just took me a bit of time longer timewise than I thought and I was left with a nut case for boss for two years who didn't understand at all. Zero. So, yes, this is hard and I do understand wanting to jump if you can now. b) change jobs now, take time off after she gives birth, which since I didn't do it that like I am not sure but some new jobs limit time off and family leave. I would tend not to say too much any way.

I would stick it out and work your hardest to ensure nothing happens to your current job. This is probably something you should have thought of either before or earlier into the pregnancy. It's already going to be a rough transistion for you with the baby, the last thing you need is more uncertainty regarding your employment status. Switching to a new job, where you will be on probationary status and have limited company benefits at this time is not smart. I'd almost want to use the word selfish, but perhaps that would be going to far? A lot of people are awfully sensitive on this forum, and cry hard.

If you need to take some time off and are offered a position, be forthcoming about it.
