Is ageism a thing in Malaysia labour market?

I have been working in overseas for years and got back to Malaysia due to the pandemic. So I'm kind of curious that is ageism exist in Malaysia labour market? (ex a 30 years old guy inerviewing for junior job position) Would it be less favourable if I'm way older than other job applicant ?

If you are ok to receive low pay, some might consider given that you are experienced. But it really depends. good luck

As a hiring manager who has been working for 5 years in this field, I'm sad to tell you: YES. We are more favourable to young applicants. In our point of views, we might think that the older you get, the more commitments you need to bear(ex your child fees, your car rental, loans etc ) , which result in demanding higher salary. So in that case you mentioned( 30 y/o looking for junior position), you are in the least favourable list that we would consider.
