Need to use address in KL/Selangor area to apply for a job there?

One of my friends told me said I have to put an address nearby the job I'm applying to increase the chances of getting hired. Also, I want to know if there’s any discrimination based on states.

As far as I'm aware, where you come from or stay doesn't affect an employer's judgement about your ability to work. It's ridiculous to think so. Perhaps you can put a statement in your CV indicating your willingness to move for eg. Penang, Malaysia (Willing to relocate)

This is a yes and no answer.. It might, I am an employer myself and I am guilty for this. Especially when I hire a fresh grads, I always focus on the one nearer to my office as the starting pay is not a lot and you need to travel so far to work daily. I get too many rejections from candidate that stays far away. Of course if you have a wow resume that excites me, I must really meet this guy.
