Generally, the notice period for resigning from a job depends on the terms and conditions stated in your employment contract or the labor laws applicable in your country. In some cases, there may be a specific notice period mentioned, while in others it may be open to negotiation between you and your employer. It is important to refer to your employment contract or consult with your HR department to find out the exact notice period required for resignation. If you have not received an offer letter or signed an employment contract, you may not be bound by any specific notice period. However, it is considered professional and courteous to give your employer a reasonable notice period before resigning, to allow them to make necessary arrangements. This could vary depending on the industry or company norms, but generally, a notice period of two weeks is commonly accepted. In regards to your specific situation, where you have been working for just one week and wish to resign after receiving your first paycheck, it would be advisable to have a conversation with your employer or HR department. Explain your situation and discuss the possibility of leaving after one month, as you mentioned. It is best to reach a mutual understanding and agreement, as abruptly resigning without proper notice could negatively impact your professional reputation and future job prospects. Ultimately, it is important to communicate with your employer and follow any notice period guidelines to ensure a smooth transition. While your employer may not be able to take legal action against you for resigning with a 24-hour notice, it is always better to act professionally and maintain a good relationship with your current employer.
