Can we terminate employee under probation?

Hi, did anyone know if there is any clause in the malaysia employment act state that we can’t fired employee during their probation period?

according to a MEF seminar that i attended a while ago, firing staff during probation is highly discouraged, as staff must be given sufficient opportunity & time to be able to demonstrate improvement. best approach is not to confirm the staff when confirmation is due.

This depends if you have the termination clause in place within the contract. And also if the termination clause is applicable on both sides. If no, then follow the act. Else follow contract.
