Can use student visa to work while waiting for work permit?

I have one student who completed an internship with another company, then went back to university for few months to complete her degree course, now waiting for final exam result (Feb 20), student visa expired April 20.

ESD for work permit i'm not really sure because i only using ESD to apply professional visit pass, all work permit we using MDEC :)

when their student visa is expired, they need to go back first and might be hard for them as well to continue working here cause they need to collect the letter at their own country after they go back there

better for you to apply while she/he is using valid visa here :)

better for you to apply directly for work permit while she/he is here because using valid student visa is much better to apply work permit under MDEC
