Do we need to pay salary for absconded employee

Hi all, would like your input for absconded employees. Can we not pay them for work done as they have not fulfilled the notice period?

Hi, offset the paid working days with notice period and as for the balance can send a demand letter to absconded employee via registered mail. Document everthing in order for case filing. Not sure how many of you doing this, but I file a police report prior to any official letter issued.
