How to calculate wage if staff in tender apply for leave

staff resign, taken 1 extra day leave. Should I take salary/21 days this month and deduct the one day salary or use 17 working days or the standard 22 days?

Since it’s an additional day taken from his/her entitlement thus it’s a nopay leave, should be divided by the total number of days in the month in which no-pay leave is taken
