Can company deduct employee wages if there's negligence

Can company deduct salary from employee due to lost items or punishment or negligence pls? Thanks in advance

we practice the same too... eg. before they accept a company's item, they need to sign an agreement form where it is stated that should the item is lost/broken due to negligence, they would have to either compensate the cost of repair or cost of replacement unit

ok lah. for this one i think is still ok. bcoz we shud take the company asset. but for other case, such as being deducted because mistake and causing lost to company or pic who take care laptop (IT dept) being deducted salary bcoz the laptop lost (dunno stolen by who), then it's too harsh for the staff. and it's not the right practice. but i know some of the company practice this way

yeap we will conduct investigation and talk to employee first before proceed, we only proceed if both parties agreed

Depends on company policy, my company policy got state that if company laptop missing. need to pay 70% from the price (depends on the service year). But if your company didnt have any policy for this, maybe no.

people need salary to makan minum . not good to deduct salary bcoz of accidently doing wrong thing or laptop lost or what so ever (as long as not sengaja to do it )

correct me if im wrong...based on experience got visit by JTK to my company ... All deduction from salary must have permit permotongan gaji from JTK... only deduction for statutory no need permit to deduct the rest need to ask permit from JTK if the staff involve cover by employment act. if not cover yes up to company to deduct.

due to lost/broken due to negligence only, if rompak then not staff fault

yes because employee should read all the policy before signed the agreement, other company not sure but my company is yes

agree... i suppose if like kena rompak .. then we penalize staff, mmg not fair.. kesian jugak the staff...

we didnt deduct one shot like 6 month installment or 1 year installment, depends on employee salary :)
