How many years of career planning should I do?

I want to do career planning but I don't know I should plan for how many years.

The best is 3-5 years. You won't how the world changes so no point doing for too long. It's even more pointless if you do for shorter than 3 years.

Hello, to do a career planning it could be in 5 years, 10 years or even in 20 years however if you're a fresh graduate, I would suggest for you to start slow. You can try to do career planning, what you want to achieved in 5 years.


The way to do Career Planning? Simple. First you have to acknowledge your journey first. What you want to do, what you have currently and also plan on how to do it.


1.What you want to be in 5 years?

  • Identify what you want to be in another 5 years. Make sure it's realistic and not impossible to reach. For an example, you as a fresh graduate in marketing courses. So what you want to be is becoming Senior Digital Marketing in commercial company.

2.What you're currently doing/have?

  • Based on the example above, since that you have certificate in marketing studies. You need to check what does that you're lacking to become a Senior Digital Marketing. For an example, right now you're lacking of experience in handling social media and you're only good in designing using Adobe.

3.Your Planning

  • Okay, so you need to plan on how to achieve it. Over here we can conclude that you need to get experience by working as Junior Digital Marketers first and get experience in handling social media pages.
