What to prove if employee said the target given is illogical

Hi all! Need some help on an expat issue. My company hired an expat and she isn’t performing well. His manager spoke with her on performance and sent to me. I briefed her and asked to improve. In our discussion, she informed that the targeted set in company isn’t realistic and asked me basic formula for setting that target. Is it something we need to prove if he goes to industrial court.

As far as unsatisfactory performance is concerned, in order to justify the staff dismissal the company has to establish that : 1) staff is *warned* about her poor performance 2) staff is accorded with *sufficient opportunity to improve* 3) notwithstanding the above, staff has *failed to sufficiently improve her performance* as long as you complying the above, you should be ok I guess. Just ensure there are trails of evidence in black and white as well.
