Under normal circumstances, an employer cannot unilaterally change the terms of your resignation notice without your consent. In this case, your employer's reason for asking you to stop working earlier is to avoid paying your house rent for the month of August. However, it is important to review your employment contract, company policies, and labor laws in your jurisdiction to understand the specific regulations regarding resignations and notice periods. As an HR expert, I would advise you to first approach your employer and discuss the issue professionally. Express your concerns regarding the change in your resignation notice and the effect it has on your remaining annual leave (AL) and unpaid leave (UL). Request clarification on the reasons behind the decision and see if there is any room for negotiation or compromise. If your employer insists on the early termination of your employment, it would be essential to consult the labor laws in your jurisdiction. Some countries or states may have specific regulations on the notice period, final payment, and unused leave entitlements. If your right to work until the original notice period is protected by law or your employment contract, you may have grounds to challenge your employer's decision.Ultimately, if your employer wrongfully terminates your employment before the agreed resignation date, you may be entitled to compensation for the remaining days of work that were originally stated in your resignation notice. It is advisable to seek legal advice or consult with relevant labor authorities to understand your rights and possible courses of action in this situation.
