In this situation, to hire GM or president both of academic qualification and working experience is important. You can't expect someone that you want to hire only got Master Degree or even PhD but got only 1 year experience in the business. Then it won't be balance. Unless if you're the business owner, that would be different thing. If in government, yes by getting the master degree does help you getting higher position.
If possible, try to get more experience and in the same time you can go and get your master degree as well.
