Resign with shorter notice period (tapi macam mana nak avoid paying compensation?)

Hi, Saya nak resign, based on notice outlined in the offer letter, I am required to serve 2 months notice, boleh ke saya serve 1 month notice je. But then is it a mandatory to pay the balance 1 month to the company? or any other way?
