What is the procedure to lay off employees?
My Management has informed that we are required to lay off employees of a certain department as the function is going to be outsourced. Anyone able to advice me the right procedure? Is lay off or retrenchment the same? I thought lay off doesn't apply to monthly rated employees? I understand that a 30 day advance notification must be given to labour department using PK form. Is there any other guidelines that I need to follow besides following LIFO principles? Can anyone share any proposal paper submitted to Management? I will also obtain views from Labour Department, but thought of checking in this forum first especially those who have done it before.
