Is it allow to deduct manager level staff salary?

Due to making wrong decision which cause a company loss. If yes, should the management go for DI? Kindly advise.

Was the wrong decision made solely by this manager or the approval was given by someone above him? If there was someone else involved then he should not be the only one penalised because his action was consented. Something to be considered

Even if the manager is out of the purview of Employment Act, deducing salary without authorization by the company is a breach of contract. The employee, if unhappy with the decision, can stage a walk out and file a constructive dismissal case. If the company intends to recover the sum due to the negligence of the employee, as pointed out by Naline, initiate a DI to investigate further and establish and examine the facts of the case. If the finding points entirely to the employee, issue a demand letter for the employee to recover the sum.
