How to choose the right career path?

I am uncertain what I really want to do as a career. I have been working since late 2015 but somehow I am still struggling to know what I want to do. Instead of keep jumping around to discover my passion, is there any other way?

Finding a career you love and are thrilled about doesn't come easy. It takes many factors to bring happiness about, and this is not to say there won't be downs in a career you finally think is the right fit for you. Ensure what you do is something you're passionate about. It sounds cliché, but if you truly enjoy the work you do, it doesn't seem like work at all. Now, how do you find what you're passionate about? Honestly ask yourself what is important to you. What are your core values as a person? This should be a driving force to help you decide on a career. Let me pose you a question, and be honest with your answer :- if you had a million dollars in your bank account right now, and money wasn't a factor, what would you want to do in your life to contribute to society or to enrich the lives of your family? What would you not mind waking up at the break of dawn to work at for the whole day? Really scrutinise the past 5 years of your work experience. What were the highs and lows of each job type? Did anything stand out in particular that made you feel like you were satisfied or had accomplished something? Or you could even reflect on your university or high school memories for what your passions were. Now, all the above being said, you have to be brutally honest to yourself about your skill set & how you'd best fit in a setting that will allow you to shine. More importantly, really think about what your weaknesses are (no one is perfect, and that is a-okay!). Be pragmatic in your career options to ensure you are a good fit. There is no shortcut to finding that magical fit sometimes. Sometimes, you have to try and try again. "Better to try and fail than to not try at all." Best of luck to you!

First you need to know, what is made you unhappy and struggled in your each job. It can be categorised into : -The job or task (the nature of the job) -The people (company culture and politics) -Personal issues (lack of passion and interest after doing the same thing for a while) If it is the job or task itself, is the reason that you don't like about the job is legitimate? If it is because of Politics and company cultures, will changing to another company with good cultures will make you happier? (I would recommend doing research on company cultures first before you apply to a job) If it is a personal issue, perhaps you need to have a self reflection session, and find some inspirations to motivate you. Focus on the reason you started something instead of why you no longer have passion. For example : Some people work purely to get enough salary to provide for their family, this is their motivation. He might not fully like his job 100%, but he is motivated because he knows he is doing it to provide to the family. In conclusion, find out the root cause first before you start to look for a solution.
