Well, consider that workers of that age probably don't have much experience or highly developed skills, look at jobs that are more physical and less specialized. Service industry, fast food, supermarkets, restaurants, outdoor recreation-related work, amusements, music stores, electronics stores, malls etc

Assuming that the young person does not have a specific skill set in X (i.e... I have an Accounting degree, therefore I want a job in accounting) then the young person will most likely have to go for jobs that are more generalized, that don't require a specific degree in X. So retail, fast food, recreation help in zoo's, amusement parks, museums etc...

IT jobs immediately come to mind, and restaurant jobs. Obviously, IT jobs would be more secure right now. Accounting is a mixed bag, with all ages.

This is the best bet for younger folks. You'll get training, education, pension, health care, dental, free rent, and a chance to get a great career. I'd go for the Air Force if you're tech minded. The camaraderie among those who served together is great.
