Is it okay to reach out to recruiter after send the applicationo?

reaching out to Recruiter or HR after you apply to a certain position and tell them we already sent the application. What is the recruiter impression of that approach?

if you're applying online, this step is a bit unnecessary. But if you met the HR or Recruiter in person at a fair or connected with them personally, it could be a good way to show your enthusiasm
